How do I set textPlus as my default texting app? (Android Market US, Amazon Market and @metro App store Only)

Now you can set textPlus as your default texting app.

To do this, go to “Settings” within the textPlus app. Under the “Text Messaging” Tab check the box next to “Use textPlus.”

Now, anytime you get a messaging notification (textPlus or regular), tapping on it will open the message in your textPlus app.

How do I edit or turn off/on my signature?

Signatures can now be added at the end of all your messages! You can edit and turn on or off your signature in your profile page.

Just go to edit your profile settings and scroll down to the bottom of that page and you will see your signature settings.

I updated textPlus but I can't seem to locate the icon on my home screen!

Don't worry, textPlus can be located in your Applications List. Tap on the "Launcher" icon to bring up the list of all the apps on your phone and simply create a new shortcut by holding down on textPlus and then dragging it onto your home screen.

After updating textPlus, I select the link that takes me to a page that does not recognize the shortened URL. What should I do?

Please uninstall and reinstall the app. Drag the textPlus icon to your home screen to make a new shortcut.

I am getting 2 alerts for each text, what should I do?!

To receive only ONE pop-up for each text, you will need to disable notifications in your regular ‘Messaging’ app.

To do this, go to “Settings” within your regular Messaging app and choose to disable notifications.

Currently, we do not provide premium numbers for Android users, but we are working on it.
Keep an eye out!!! :D

Is textPlus really free to use?

Sending and receiving texts using textPlus is totally free for you.

However, there are a couple of optional features that require textPlus to send you Regular Texts, which your carrier will bill you for according to your standard rate message plan.

Those are:
1. If you optionally provide textPlus with your phone number, you will be sent a ONE-TIME verification text, billed (once) according to your message plan.

2. Optionally, textPlus can send Regular Texts to your Android (or other phone) to notify you of new messages. Regular Texts are billed according to your message plan.

What is a Community?

A community is a place where you can invite all of your friends to come and chat. Give it a unique name to give out to your friends with OR without the app.

There's two ways to join:
- Tap the Communities tab in the textPlus app and type in the name of the community
- Check out the list of Featured Communities

What does this cost my friends to use?

Since textPlus sends your messages as Regular Texts, your friends won't be billed any differently than they normally do for the texts that they get.

For example:
- If your friends have unlimited texting, then they're set!
- If they get 200 texts a month, your texts to them count against that total

What is 60611?

60611 is the standard short code for your textPlus commands.

Your friends without textPlus would receive messages through the number 60611. THIS IS NOT YOUR NUMBER. Your textPlus username is your identifier not this number.
They’ll see your real name and your textPlus username (so that they know who they’re getting the texts from and hopefully won’t ignore you!)

Easy to remember, too. So if your friends want to start a conversation with you and your textPlus username is Drew, you'd say "Text the word Drew to 60611" - weeeee!

What is a textPlus username and why should I get one?

A textPlus username is your unique name, word, or phrase that you can give out to your friends and family, so that they can reach you directly on the textPlus network, even if they don't have the app.

For example:
1. Someone without the app wants to reach Drew. His textPlus username is DREW. They can text the word DREW to 60611 and get a hold of him!

2. Someone has textPlus and so do you. They can start a new conversation and send a message right to your textPlus username, no cell # needed! App to App magic!

My friends aren't getting my texts! Darn it to heck.

There are a few reasons that your friends might not be getting your texts:

Unsupported carrier
We support most US and Canadian carriers including: AT&T, Bell Mobility, Verizon, Rogers Wireless, Sprint, TELUS Mobility, T-Mobile, Alltel, metroPCS, US Cellular, Bell Aliant, Virgin Mobile, Virgin Mobile Canada, Nextel, SaskTel, Boost, CellularOne, Dobson, nTelos, Fido, Cellular South, CellCom, Télébec Mobilité, Koodo Mobile. We do NOT currently support Cricket.

Verizon "Premium SMS Services" services blocked
If your friend is on Verizon, they may have blocked "Premium SMS Services." Although textPlus is entirely free, Verizon categorizes all shortcode services as "Premium."

T-Mobile Parental Controls
Some carriers, including T-Mobile, offer parental controls that can block certain SMS services. Your friend may need to enable SMS services.

Your friends don't recognize where the texts are coming from
Perhaps your friends are receiving your messages, but don't realize they're from you! textPlus messages will come from a number beginning with "60611," not your phone number. Make sure you pick a real name and textPlus address they'll recognize!

I'm not getting my friends reply! They might think I'm ignoring them.

Make sure you're logged into textPlus. If you've started a conversation with someone and then log out, you won't get their reply in textPlus until you do.

How do I get alerts and sounds when I get messages?

textPlus can alert you (with sound) the instant you get a message using one of two methods even if the app is closed.

Background Notifications - Recommended because it's FREE! Manage this in your textPlus app.

Regular Text - This is good for users who want to have Regular Texts alerts on their cell phone, or anyone who prefers using Regular Text messaging. Standard text messaging rates apply though.

The app still works even if you don't have alerts on, you'll just have to open the app and refresh your messages.

textPlus sends messages to my friends on regular phones? What do they look like?

Figure A shows a typical textPlus message that most of your friends would receive. On a few carriers it looks like figure B:

On most carriers (fig. A), your friends can simply reply to your message.

On a few carriers (fig. B), they must reply with a 2-char code in front of their message, like this: "T3 Hey, John! Whaddup?"

How do I put pictures of me and my friends into textPlus?

Easy!

textPlus pulls user pictures from your device's Contacts. Just assign pictures to your friends in the Contacts app on your device and they'll show up in textPlus! Remember: To make your own photo show up, you must verify your app with your cell # first and add yourself as a contact.

I have an idea on how you can make textPlus better!

We love to hear your ideas, and we really do listen!

Our community hangs out in Get Satisfaction! which lets you submit new ideas. The realllly cool thing is that other members of the textPlus community can agree with your idea, and comment on it as well. Since we're always there, your ideas help us make textPlus awesomer.
