Pro Tip: 60611 is the app for those without the app

60611Friends don't have textPlus? (boooo!) Doesn't mean they can't use textPlus too, even when it's not you they're talking to! (yayyyyy!)

Our short code 60611 can be used just like you use textPlus on the iPhone, Touch, and Android. Through regular texts!

Say your friend has a flip phone, how can they start a group chat?

Easy.

Text !chat to 60611 like this:

TO: 60611
MESSAGE: !chat

They'll then be prompted to respond with phone numbers of friends to invite, or textPlus addresses of app users to invite.

Neat, huh?

Not sure what a short code is? Bonus Geek Info! Checkit:
Short codes, also known as short numbers, are special telephone numbers, much shorter than full telephone numbers, which can also be used to address SMS text messages from mobile phones.

How would someone from a regular phone send me a text when i used texplus? Would the use the 60611 for the number? But what would they put in the message part to send me a text?
  • Yep, they'd use 60611 as the number. The message would be your textPlus address. Once we figure out they're trying to reach someone on textPlus we'll prompt them for their message. Super simple!

For example, my textPlus address is Drew, so someone who wanted to start a conversation with me could text the word Drew to 60611 :)

my freind is trying to text me but she is not able to send me a text
she is typing my text plus address to 60611
  • Hey there, feel free to send me a textPlus message to my textPlus address, which is Drew and we'll go from there :)

Works, sometimes takes a while before the response is sent. You have to know the number, no looking them up.
  • Also, what type of lookup are you trying to do or are looking to do?
  • Howdy, can you tell us more about what you mean?

Sometimes your friends take time to reply, or a textPlus user isn't connected to the internet to get their messages...that can cause delays.

Can I send umlauts with textPlus? I have tried sending umlauts in groupText, but they were converted into a lot of garbage characters. Are you sending the messages in ASCII? How about UTF-8?
  • We are working on adding character support to textPlus.

If I have 2 friends A and B using textPlus to send me text, would they show on my cell as the same as 60611? How can I know that one from A or B?
  • The messages would come in from the shortcode 60611, but their real name and textPlus address would show with the text you get :)
